Meet the Team
John Cannon brings nearly three decades of experience in commercial real estate finance, with a career defined by large-scale, institutional underwriting and disciplined credit execution. During his eleven-year tenure at Pinnacle Financial Partners, John built and led the firm’s commercial real estate lending platform, serving as a central architect of its underwriting framework and risk management approach.
John and his teams were directly responsible for the underwriting, structuring, and execution of hundreds of development transactions across multiple market cycles. His leadership encompassed the design of firmwide underwriting models, establishment and oversight of the commercial construction draw desk, and authorship of Pinnacle’s CRE lending policy creating a consistent, scalable underwriting process applied across geographies, sponsors, and asset classes.
Under John’s direction, Pinnacle’s CRE platform expanded throughout the Southeast, Texas, Colorado, and the Midwest, establishing itself as a leading lender to institutional multifamily and industrial development sponsors. Since founding the platform, John’s teams originated and underwrote more than $11 billion in high-quality commercial real estate loans, primarily focused on new Class A multifamily and industrial construction. This volume reflects extensive experience evaluating market fundamentals, sponsor track records, construction risk, capital structures, and exit assumptions at scale.
John began his financial career in 1995 with National City Bank, where he completed the firm’s corporate training program and served as a commercial credit analyst and commercial banker. In 2007, he relocated to Nashville to open and lead a loan production office. He later joined U.S. Bank to re-establish and lead its Middle Market CRE banking team in Nashville before joining Pinnacle in 2015 to build its CRE platform.
John earned a bachelor’s degree from Hanover College with a double major in Economics and Business Administration and an MBA from the University of Louisville. He serves on the board of the Nashville Downtown Partnership and on the Asset Management Committee for Second Harvest. He is actively involved with the Urban Land Institute’s Nashville Chapter, is a member of Leadership Nashville’s Class of 2024, he was selected by the Nashville Business Journal as a CRE Banker of the year in 2021 and he serves as an adjunct professor teaching real estate investment at Middle Tennessee State University.
Tyler Muesch has nearly twenty years of experience in commercial real estate banking and finance, with a focus on institutional development lending. During his eleven years at Pinnacle Financial Partners, Tyler and his team financed more than $5 billion in institutional commercial real estate projects, primarily ground-up multifamily and industrial developments across the Southeast, Texas, Colorado, and the Midwest. His experience also includes financing retail, office, land, and structured parking projects.
In 2020, Tyler assumed leadership of Pinnacle’s Nashville CRE team, the firm’s largest CRE production group. While leading the team, he oversaw an additional $2 billion in CRE production, representing total project valuations exceeding $3 billion. Approximately 89% of his production involved institutional multifamily and industrial construction financing.
Tyler began his career in financial services in 2005 with SunTrust as a CRE management associate in Memphis before relocating to Nashville and joining Regions Bank. During his eight years at Regions, he held roles in CRE portfolio management, special assets, and production relationship management. He joined Pinnacle in 2015 to help establish and grow its commercial real estate platform.
Tyler earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance from the University of Tennessee. He is an active member of the Nashville Chapter of NAIOP, serving as President in 2023 after eight years as Treasurer. He has served on the board of the Ronald McDonald House of Nashville for eight years, including as Board President in 2024, and has been a longtime supporter of the American Heart Association.
